John Kite is Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Kite Realty Group. Kite Realty Group is a full-service, vertically-integrated real estate investment trust focused primarily on the development, ownership and operation of high-quality neighborhood and community shopping centers in select markets in the United States. The Company is listed on the New York Stock Exchange (KRG) and has over $3.5 billion in assets. Mr. Kite is responsible for the strategic direction and operating results of the company. He serves as the head of the company’s capital allocation committee, which is responsible for major capital transactions.
Prior to becoming Chief Executive Officer of Kite Realty Group upon its initial public offering in August 2004, Mr. Kite was President of Kite Companies from 1997–2004. In 1994, Mr. Kite was named President of KMI Realty Advisors, an affiliate of the Kite Companies. KMI Realty Advisors is a full-service, SEC-registered real estate advisory firm. Mr. Kite joined the Kite organization as Chief Financial Officer of Kite Development in 1990. Mr. Kite was a Business Development Officer in the Commercial Lending Department of Harris Trust and Savings Bank in Chicago, IL from 1987-1990. Mr. Kite graduated from DePauw University with a BA in Economics in 1987.
Thomas K. McGowan has served as President of Kite Companies since 2008. Previously, he had been the Senior Executive Vice President since 2007 and Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer since Kite’s initial public offering in August 2004. Prior to the initial public offering, Mr. McGowan had been Executive Vice President and one of the partners of the Kite Companies since 1995. He is primarily responsible for the oversight of the development, redevelopment, leasing, construction and asset management functions of the Company. Before joining Kite Companies, Mr. McGowan worked for eight years for real estate developer Mansur Development Corporation, and he holds a B.A. degree in Political Science from Indiana University.
Dan Sink has been the Chief Financial Officer of Kite Companies since 1999. His responsibilities include overseeing the real estate finance area, the corporate accounting function, corporate tax planning, company financial budgeting and corporate operations and administration. From 1989 through 1999, Mr. Sink was employed by Olive LLP (subsequently merged into BKD LLP), one of the fifteen-largest accounting firms in the country, acting as a tax specialist in charge of the tax consulting for the central Indiana real estate/construction group. Mr. Sink is a Certified Public Accountant, and earned his B.S. in Accounting from Indiana University.
Scott E. Murray is executive Vice President, General Counsel and Corporate Secretary. Mr. Murray is responsible for managing the company's legal affairs, which includes advising the company with respect to legal issues, managing the company's legal department and engaging and directing outside counsel. Prior to joining the company, Mr. Murray practiced law as a commercial litigator at McDermott, Will & Emery, LLP and Barnes & Thornburg, LLP. Mr. Murray earned his law degree from Harvard Law School, where he graduated cum laude.
Wade Achenbach serves as Senior Vice President - Capital Markets and Corporate Treasurer with Kite Realty Group Trust. While at Kite, Mr. Achenbach has completed over $5 billion in capital markets transactions and worked on over 3 million square feet of retail development and redevelopment in eight states. Prior to joining Kite, Mr. Achenbach was in the mergers and acquisitions group at Plexus Corp., a publicly traded global contract electronics manufacturing company, based in Wisconsin. Prior to Plexus, Mr. Achenbach worked in the Investment Banking Group at A.G. Edwards & Sons in St. Louis, MO as a generalist working on a variety of mergers, acquisitions and capital raising transactions.
Brad Bisser oversees all of the operations of the KRG portfolio, maintaining strong relationships with merchants and vendors. His responsibilities include ensuring all assets operate in a first class manner, while controlling costs and maximizing recovery, managing the Specialty Leasing Program, as well as managing two Directors, and all Asset Management, Specialty Leasing, Maintenance, and Administrative staff. Prior to joining Kite Realty Group, Mr. Bisser was Director of Operations for the SE Region with Developers Diversified Realty, based in Atlanta, GA. Mr. Bisser graduated from Southern Illinois University with a major in German and International Business. He has over 20 years of experience in the industry.
Mellissa Boggs, SPHR has more than 25 years of management, operations and human resources experience. As Senior Vice President of Human Capital, Mellissa provides strategy and leadership related to human capital at Kite. Prior to joining Kite, Mellissa was the Director of HR Consulting at MJ Insurance, where she started the HR Consulting Division. She provided extensive hands-on expertise as well as leading workshops in the areas of management, leadership, compliance and what it means to be an “Employer of Choice.” Prior to joining MJ Insurance, Mellissa was one of the founding principals of a full-service human capital organization called Human Capital Concepts, LLC.
As the Company's Chief Accounting Officer, Dave oversees its accounting, financial reporting, and tax functions. He joined Kite Realty Group in 2010 and was previously the Company’s Corporate Controller. Prior to joining the Company, Dave was a Senior Manager in the audit practice at KPMG, where he served a variety of industries with a focus on real estate. He has significant experience working with public companies and has assisted in multiple public equity and debt offerings. He is a certified public accountant and received Bachelor of Science degrees in Accounting and Finance from Indiana University.
Matthew Gabet is responsible for the implementation and execution of corporate strategy and the financing/deal structuring of joint ventures and mixed-use projects. During Mr. Gabet’s nine year tenure with Kite, he has financed over $300 million of retail and mixed-use developments and has helped structure and secure public incentives for a number of the company’s most complex projects including Eddy Street Commons, the Conrad Indianapolis and Glendale Town Center. Prior to his time with Kite, Mr. Gabet worked for Wachovia’s Investment Bank and was responsible for underwriting and securitizing over $2 billion of commercial real estate transactions.
Mark Jenkins currently serves as the Senior Vice President of Retail Development at Kite Realty Group Trust (KRG) in Indianapolis. Mark is responsible for overseeing the site acquisition process, managing all development and redevelopment initiatives, coordinating with public officials to seamlessly facilitate the permitting, incentive, and entitlement processes, and providing transaction negotiations for major anchor tenants.
Throughout his 25-year career with the company, Mark has completed more than $500 million in commercial real estate transactions. His extensive development experience has grown to encompass a diverse selection of property types including: community shopping centers, free-standing retail, land lease, and mixed-use developments throughout Kite’s $3.5 billion portfolio.
Colin Joynt, Senior Vice President, IT, is responsible for the strategic and tactical initiatives at Kite, along with aligning corporate strategy with these initiatives. Prior to joining Kite, Colin worked in partnership business leadership to transform their Sales, Marketing, Human Resources, Customer Success, Finance/Accounting and Manufacturing organizations to leverage technology in a more streamlined and effective manner. This required Colin to lead and manage a diverse set of teams that included Project Managers, Business Analysts, Enterprise Architects and Developers, along with working with industry-leading platforms such as Salesforce.com, Workday, Microsoft AX and the Oracle eBusiness Suite. Colin is a graduate of the University of Waterloo, Ontario Canada.
Rick Lally leads the KRG construction department and is responsible for all of the internal estimating, tenant coordination, construction support and CAD services for the KRG development/redevelopment pipeline and all operating properties within the portfolio. Prior to joining KRG, Rick was the vice-president of construction at Kimco Developers, the merchant building arm for Kimco Realty Corp., where for nine years he was responsible for the development of over 40 ground-up retail power centers across the US. Prior to Kimco, Rick spent seven years with Home Depot as construction manager for the Midwest Region, where he led the retail store's construction expansion into the high profile markets of Chicago, Detroit and Cleveland.
Bryan McCarthy leads the Kite Marketing team, overseeing the organization’s branding and marketing efforts across all platforms. Partnering with all departments, Bryan is responsible for the company’s communication strategy at a corporate and local level. Prior to joining Kite, Bryan served as VP, Account Director at the Leo Burnett Group, developing campaigns and marketing strategies for the agency’s portfolio of brand clients. Bryan graduated from Indiana University with a B.S. in Marketing and International Business.
Gregg Poetz is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day leasing activities for the Northeast, Midwest and Florida Regions for operating properties and development/redevelopment projects, in addition to overseeing the peripheral development for the entire portfolio. Gregg has been employed at Kite Realty Group for almost 20 years. At Kite, Gregg has been responsible for various aspects of the business, such as anchor leasing and new development leasing, including shops and outparcels. Prior to joining Kite, Gregg was employed by Simon Property Group for eight years, where he worked in both the leasing and development departments. Gregg graduated in 1989 from Indiana University with a B.S. in Business Finance and Real Estate.
Mitch leads the Acquisition and Disposition department as Senior Vice President. He works closely with the Kite Realty Group Executive team in establishing acquisition and disposition goals. He is involved in underwriting acquisition opportunities and setting pricing parameters. Another key responsibility is creating relationships with owners, brokers and sellers of retail projects in our core markets. Prior to joining Kite, Mitch was a VP of Acquisitions for Weingarten Realty Trust. Mitch is a graduate of the University of Michigan.
Jeff Wright manages the leasing efforts for the West, Mid-Central, and Southeast Regions. Previously, Jeff was the VP of Leasing at Thompson Thrift, Director of Retail at Lauth Property Group and Senior Leasing Representative at the Broadbent Company. A veteran of the shopping center industry, Jeff has been actively involved for over 22 years.
